It is located 28 km northeast of Akkiiztoy aul, Zhylyoi district, Atyrau region. The main object of the complex is an underground mosque built by Beket Ata. The construction of the mosque, which lasted for three years (1771-1773), was led by a young man from the aul Sokyrsha. It has been written about in the scientific and historical literature since the XIX century. According to the Russian researcher E. Eversman, who visited Mangistau and Zhem in 1820-1821, “Mosques carved from the mountains on the plateau are decorated with Persian, Arabic and Tatar inscriptions. Such a monument-necropolis was built by Beket in four places. The third of them is on the river Zhem ... ”According to sources, Beket Ata visited Akmeshit, which he built as a young man. 1851-1852 Russian traveler, lieutenant Alekseev also took into account Akmeshit when conducting a topographic survey of the Ustyurt. In his book "Geographical characteristics of the Northern Ustyurt", published in 1853, he wrote: In this mosque Beket taught boys and wrote letters. In addition to the mosque, the Akmeshit complex includes a reserve consisting of 32 tombstones, 2 sheep, 2 domed mausoleums and one saganatam. 13 tombstones will have architectural, historical and ethnographic significance.
