Okzhetpes stands next to Mount Kokshe, the highest point of the Kokshetau Upland. It is made of granite, with steep slopes where pine and birch grow.
Many legends are told about this rock above the clear waters of Lake Auliekol. Shokan Ualikhanov collected more than 15 legends and tales, and Saken Seifullin told the story of Okzhetpes in his poem "Kokshetau."
