Khan Tengri is one of the high peaks of the Tien Shan, which Kazakhs call "Aspantau." Its southeastern side belongs to Kazakhstan, its eastern side to China and its western side to Kyrgyzstan.
Rising to more than 7,000 meters, it is counted among the most beautiful peaks in the world. Until 1960, local people called it Khantengir.
The marble walls of this sharp, four-sided pyramid catch the eye from far away. Climbers reach the summit via the South and North Inylchek glaciers.
