Mausoleum of Jochi Khan

Karaganda region is an ancient architectural monument located 50 km northeast of Zhezkazgan, on the banks of the river Kengir. The mausoleum was dedicated to Genghis Khan's son Jochi Khan, the founder of the Golden Horde.

Karaganda region is an ancient architectural monument located 50 km northeast of Zhezkazgan, on the banks of the river Kengir. The mausoleum was dedicated to Genghis Khan's son Jochi Khan, the founder of the Golden Horde.Jochi Khan (1187-1227) - the founder of a new state in the Kipchak steppes after the Mongol invasion - the founder of the Jochi ulus, the eldest of Genghis Khan's four sons Jochi ruled all the lands from the Irtysh to the Ural Mountains and further west.

The Horde is located along the Irtysh River (Altyn Orda).The study of the mazar begins with an article by Sh. Valikhanov “On the tombs of the Kyrgyz Kaisak and the former in general”. (1855). In 1868, in the work of Lieutenant Colonel Krasovsky “Area of the Siberian Kyrgyz” there is a description of ancient construction.
