Beket Myrzagululy (1750–1813) was a prominent Kazakh religious figure, educator and warrior. A master builder, he carved underground mosques in the Mangystau, Atyrau and Ustyurt areas, where children were taught.

In the underground mosque at Ogylandy, he founded a Sufi school. Today the place is known as a sacred site that gives people spiritual nourishment and shows the way to those who have lost it.
