The monument represents provincial building, which is one of the peculiar examples of wooden architecture of the late 19th and early 20th century.
It is a dwelling house in the form of a wooden framework, imitating a Russian house. The affluent carved wooden decor harmoniously decorates the plat bands, valance, curtain rodsand the central part of the carved gable with a paired decorative dormer. All these elements belong to the pseudo-Russian style in the architecture of the end of the 19th century and were calledas the "cock" style.
The building is a monument of the republican protection category.
It was built by the Akmola merchant StepanBelov.Later, the merchant sold the building to the Tatar-Muslim community.
The further history of the monument is related to education. In early 20th centurythe first Muslim school of Akmola for girls situated here. Since 1907 the Kyrgyz-Tatar elementary school began to work in this building, where 27 pupils were taught.
During the Soviet period, the school was reorganized into 7-year-old Kazakh school number 4, and girls were also taught there. In 1912 the founder of modern Kazakh literature, poet and writer Saken Seifullin taught in this school.
Separated teaching method was existed in the Soviet Union until 1954. So in 1954, the united schoolfor boys and girls was resited to a new building.
And the building of the former school in the early sixties was inherited to the kindergarten "Belochka", which was located here for almost 30 years - until the mid-1990s.
In 1996, the building was transmitted to the Kazakh musical and drama theater named after KalybekKuanyshbaev and was used as an art and production workshop for making props.
It may safely be said that this building is a great treasure for every Kazakhstani, because it is connected with the history of education, and also with the name of the outstanding Kazakh poet, writer and public figure Saken Seifullin.
At the present time, the State Public Utility Enterprise "The department of Historical and cultural heritage of saving secrets and objects" of Nur-Sultan City is located here.
