Sundet mausoleum (second half of the XIX century) is one of the octagonal, helmet-shaped architectural monuments. It is located 68 km south-west of Zharkamys village of Baiganin district of Aktobe region.
The mausoleum is located in Zharkamys village of Baiganin district. It is one of the outstanding monuments of ancient Kazakh architecture of Western Kazakhstan. The octagonal walls of the mausoleum resemble a yurt with a domed roof.
Sundet is a well-known figure in the Zhem-Sagyz region. According to folklore, the circumcision took place in the XIX century. He was a wealthy and respected cleric person. Sundet is remembered by the people as a just court and a mediator who settled various disputes among the people.
The mausoleum of Sundet was built in the XX century on the bank of the river Zhem by his son Agysbai and 5 grandsons after their return. According to assumptions of researchers M. Mendikulov and S.E. Azhigali, the monument is dated back to the second half of the XIX century. It is believed that the mausoleum was masterfully built by the national architect Dauletniyaz. The building, according to the master's plan, was built in an octagonal shape, unlike any other building in the region in terms of architectural features. There is no such mausoleum on the plateau of Zhem-Sagyz.
