It is located in the 28th Panfilov Guards Park dedicated to the heroes of the Second World War in Almaty.

Voznesensk Procathedral is a unique type of engineering construction, height - 56 m. Its construction began on September 26, 1903 in Almaty on the initiative of the Honorary Bishop of Turkestan and Tashkent Paisi (Vinogradov). In 1906, it received the first visitors. The building is made of blue spruce of the Tien Shan. It is designed by the project of Zenkov (one of the first architects of Verny). The walls of the church are decorated by local artist Nikolai Khludov. Construction materials were delivered from all over the empire: cement was from Tashkent, ceramic tiles were from the Kos and Dorr plant, paper artifacts were from Kovalevsky factory in St. Petersburg, nickel-plated metal products were made in the famous V. Zemtsov plant in Tula, the paints were from Moscow, and the icons were from brought from A. Murashko's art workshop in Kiev. Due to the talent of architects, the church became a model of earthquake-resistant construction. It does not succumb to the temptations of time and nature. A 10-magnitude earthquake in 1911 did not harm the church. The church has passed from hand to hand many times in its history.
