Customs Monument of Ekidyn

Arkalyk town of Kostanay region is located northeast of the aul of Ekidyn, on both sides of the river Karatorgai. Chronological period: about VIII-III centuries BCE.The monument consists of two objects.

Arkalyk town of Kostanay region is located northeast of the aul of Ekidyn, on both sides of the river Karatorgai. Chronological period: about VIII-III centuries BCE.The monument consists of two objects. Ekidyn I is located on the left bank of the river Karatorgai, Ekidyn II is higher, well visible from a distance. The distance between the two is 4 km.According to legend, in the XVII-XVIII centuries there were battles and bloodshed on the site of these objects. It was here that the military leaders of the two warring tribes set up their hordes. Both are built of stone and look like yurts. The monument was studied in 1959 by a scientific expedition led by A. Margulan. According to A.Margulan, this monument reflects the development of the first art of house building in Kazakh culture.
