The religious object is located on Al-Farabi Avenue, Kostanay.A building called the Muslim Mosque or Akmeshit dates back to the XIX century. The end is a unique religious architectural monument. The mosque was built at the expense of local charity. The main funds for the new mosque were collected by rich Kazakhs such as Minaradar Kylyshbayev, Esentai Haji, Nurzhan akyn, Karim, Leker Haji from Arakaragai volost, and sent to the well-known Tatar merchant Abduali Ahmedhanuli Yaushev, a representative of the Yaushev Brothers trading house in Troitsk. Then the construction materials begin to arrive. About 1,000 people took part in the construction of the mosque. Specialists, artists from St. Petersburg and masters from Kazan were invited to create and decorate the pattern. Their accommodation and food will be provided by Arakaragai volost. In 1893, the construction of the mosque was completed and put into operation.The mosque is built of burnt bricks. The area of the mosque is 844.3 square meters, one-minaret, two-storey, the height of the dome is 18,890 square meters, the height of the minaret is 22,745, for 1000 people. The building of the mosque is 6 m high. The semi-circular protrusion of the mosque ends with a high minaret calling for the call to prayer.Until 1930, the mosque served all Muslims. During the Soviet era, the mosque was used as a club. During the Second World War, the building housed an evacuation point, and after the war there was a GKKT (cinema for young spectators). In 1980-1991, the building housed the regional philharmonic. On November 1, 1991, the mosque was returned to the people. In 2002, the mosque was named after a prominent religious scholar Maral Ishan Kurmanuli.
