Koshkar Ata mausoleum and spring are located on the river Koshkar Ata in Shymkent.According to legends, a boy named Kylysh, who lived in the depths of Karatau in the XI century, was able to study at the age of seven and went to Bukhara. In those days there was a blind hero named Arkar (Arkar was the fourth grandfather of the Sword). When he left for school, his parents blessed him and named him, saying, “Even if you are not like your grandfather Arkar, be like a ram, my son”. From then on the Sword became a boy Koshkar.It is said that Kylysh studied in Bukhara for decades, came to his country, opened a mosque and a madrasah, and was the first to build the modern city of Shymkent. There are still more than 10 places where saints are buried in the country. Because almost all the area where he went and opened the spring was surrounded by bricks and mortar, so that ordinary people could not walk on it. It is said that when he was studying in Bukhara, his teacher treated him with special care and respect. Unaware of this, the disciples often pushed the boy away from them. Then one day the teacher took the children to the forest to collect firewood and sent Koshkar to the other side of the river to collect firewood. He did not sink, but slipped on the water and reached the other side. Seeing this, his peers began to look at him differently, realizing that he had a God-given quality.The spring named after Baba starts in the heart of the city, near the railway station. The water from the underground spring bursts through the center of the city and joins the Badam River. At the head of the spring fish swim in groups. People are not so scared to learn. The water of the clear spring is fresh. And the healing properties of spring water is a different story. From the head of the spring in winter and summer there are many human feet.
