One of the largest and oldest cemeteries in Mangistau - Sisem Ata is located 35 km north of the village of Utes, Mangistau region, Mangistau region, along the winter wells and ancient caravan routes in the western Ustyurt.
Chronological period: XIII-XIX centuries.According to local legends, Sisem Ata was one of the first preachers of Islam in the medieval Oguz-Kipchak period. Sisem Ata's cemetery is a pantheon of heroes. Heroes who fought against the Khiva khans and other invaders are buried. According to М. Mendikulov's research, the cemetery dates back to the XI-XII centuries, around the ancient part, on the tombs developed in a north-south direction, there are various symbols and traditional ornaments. The history of drawings refers to the political events of the Kipchak-Nogai epoch.
