Yessym Khan Mausoleum is an architectural monument of the XVII century, located 12 m south of the western tower of the mausoleum of Hodja Ahmed Yassawi in Turkestan, South Kazakhstan region. The mausoleum was built on the tomb of Yessym Khan, khan of the Kazakh Khanate. It probably collapsed in the late XVIII and early XIX centuries. The preserved part of the mausoleum was renovated in 2000. During the reign of Yesim Khan (1598-1628), who mastered diplomacy, the Kazakh Khanate was strengthened and recaptured much of Dzungarian-Kalmyk territory. In 1598, Turkestan was permanently under the control of the Kazakh Khanate and became the center of the Kazakh Khanate from Yessym Khan. “Tole came to power, Yessym came to the whole khanate”, said Kazybek Biden. Yessym Khan signed a treaty with Bukhara and sought to establish peaceful and economic ties with the cities of Central Asia. He wanted to create the Kazakh Khanate as a centralized state. He drafted a law called “The Old Way of Yessym Khan”.
