Chronological period: VII-XVII centuries.Isfidjab is the historical name of Sairam, the place where the umbilical cord blood of Gulama Hodja Ahmed Yassavi was shed. Isfidzhab district included the cities of Keder, Syganak, Sauran and Yangikent on the Syrdarya and the cities of Balaj and Berukey on the northern slopes of the Karatau, Taraz, Kulan, Mirki (Merke), Suyab in the Semirechye.

In the XV-XVIII centuries Sairam was a major center of trade and handicrafts. was.Ruzbikhan Isfahani, a historian of the XV and XVI centuries and author of Mehman name-i Bukhara, wrote: “The walls surrounding the main part of the city are so high that the hand of the conqueror cannot reach its walls so quickly that the Kazakhs can't even jump over it». It reads: "Sairam is the name of a white city called Isfidzhab." The town of Isfidzhab was founded in 1923 by P.P. Ivanov, in 1925 M.E. Masson, in 1947, N.Bernstam studied it.

There are many mausoleums inside the town. The oldest is the mausoleum of Malik Baba. Isfidzhab (Sairam) was an important strategic center that controlled not only trade routes, but also the crossings to the Central Asian possessions and to the south of the Kazakh steppe.
