It is located about 100 km south of the aul of T.Komekbayev, Karmakshy district of Kyzylorda region, on the left bank of the old canal of Zhanadarya. The life of the city dates back to about IV-II centuries BCE - CE X-XII centuries.Chirik-Rabat is an outstanding monument of great historical value, preserved from the ancient Saka society of Kazakhstan. Due to the geographical location of the city, it was of strategic importance. It is located along the Silk Road, which connects Persia in the southwest, Russia in the south and China in the southeast. There were hundreds of ancient medieval cities along the Amu Darya and Syr Darya. The peoples living in the valleys between the two rivers cultivated crops by artificial irrigation, and cities and fortresses appeared. It is known that the city was a stronghold on the border of the Khiva Khanate and the Kazakhs during the policy of tsarist Russia in the XVIII-XIX centuries. In 1946, the Khorezm archeological and ethnographic expedition led by S.P.Tolstov discovered the city of Shirik-Rabat and explored it in 1948-49, 1958-59. It (120 km) is connected with the settlement of Sagdere. If we pay attention to the etymology of the word Shirik-Rabat, it is necessary to comment on the first word “Rabat”. The western and south-western sides of the fortress in Chirik-Rabat were densely populated. This is evidenced by the scattering of fragments of pottery and the remains of various products, ashes of fires.
